Substance Use Assessment
I offer evaluations for people who want to explore their relationship with drugs and alcohol. Maybe you’re wondering, “Do I have a problem with drinking or drugs?” Or, perhaps you feel you have a problem but don’t know the best course of action for seeking treatment.
I use the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) guidelines to assess and recommend level of care placement. This includes a six dimension biopsychosocial assessment which looks at withdrawal potential, physical health, cognitive/behavioral and emotional conditions, readiness to change, continued problem potential and environmental influences.
This evaluation focuses on progress rather than pathology. The goal is to help determine what type of care will help you succeed. Addiction and substance abuse often create problems in our lives, and this cannot be ignored. I combine strengths and growing areas to create recommendations based on your personal strengths and abilities and to help you establish potential treatment plan goals.
This service does not include: recommendations for custody/divorce proceedings, evaluation for employment readiness, urine drug testing, or referrals to specific treatment programs.
